Image Editors for the Rest of Us

From Macworld
We’re in the midst of a developer resurgence regarding something virtually all Mac users have a use for at one level or another: image editors. In years past, there was Photoshop, and then there was Photoshop. Now, we have a full spectrum of image editors to choose from. High end editors like Photoshop, mid-range wares such as Photoshop Elements and GIMP, as well as some newer, more affordable applications that have pro-style features, but are designed for people with less-demanding editing needs.

Overall, the usefulness of these programs depends on what purpose you want them to serve. Here’s a quick look at two of them.

And now Pixelmator!

Pixelmator 1.0 was finally released today after being in private beta. Some great stuff! I think a lot of Intel Mac owners (and anyone else that doesn't need all the features of Photoshop CS3) will want to snag this one over Photoshop Elements. And well, anyone that needs a really nice image editor. :)

Shawn, are you listening? You need to get the Pixelmator guys on YML!

Got some more info for me?
