In Search of a Brick Led to the Discovery of a Cool feature of the Olympus Evolt-510!

Okay, so today I headed out on my little assignment that Shawn gave me, to uhhh go take a picture of a brick - I don't ask why, I just try and do as I'm told. (Shawn's laughing his butt off right now cuz that's usually so *NOT* the case - at least when it's him telling me to do something.) ;-)

So off I go taking the skytrain into downtown Vancouver hoping that the rain, which had been pummeling the appropriately nicknamed "Wet Coast" off and on for a few days, would hold off until I reached my destination - Waterfront Station and then Gastown - where brick buildings and cobblestone streets are the norm.

Wouldn't you know it though, as soon as I get downtown and walk outside, the skies open up and the rain comes down again - so I quickly take a few shots of the immediate scene, yes one that did include a brick in all its brickness, and then high-tailed it back into the dry confines of Waterfront Station. (Had it been my camera, I might have stayed out in the rain a little longer, but since it's just a loaner right now from the good folks at Olympus, I'm not going to take any chances.)

Once I got back home, I was checking out the pictures on the gorgeous LCD panel of the Evolt-510 and whoa! Did you know - DID YOU KNOW - that when viewing pictures you've taken, just like on the iPhone/iPod Touch and depending on how you are holding the camera when viewing the LCD panel, the portrait/landscape views change automagically? Too cool! Now I don't know if that's standard on every SLR camera regardless of brand, but I just gotta say and this might be old hat for some of you seasoned photogs - how frickin' cool is that!?! Nice feature, Olympus! :-)

Pics soon, I promise! (Still on the lookout for the ultimate brick.) ;-)

That is a cool feature! My Canon Digital Rebel XTi has that feature as well.

It's fun learning new stuff about photography!
