Rebel XTi
I was just listening to the archives of YML. Hey are your buying a
Rebel XTi?! I have one and they're sweet! I've been impressed by the
photos and the amount of hardrive I'm eating up! I'll need to get
that figured out at some point...
Anyway, be sure to get a "fast" lens and spend the extra money.
Meaning that your apeture opens big to a 2.8, or better. the more the
light, the easier to get the shot you want! maybe even start out with
a fixed focal length (not a zoom) they're a lot cheaper.... save up
for the perfect zoom. The bigger the aperture, the bigger the cost
unfortunately.
My only complaint is going from the tiny 5-7 MP cameras that fit in
your pocket, to the bigger bulkier body and those damn lenses are
huge in comparison.... and my only change I see in the next revision,
might be the simple LCD screen view finder instead of the old-
fashioned eyepiece. The point-and-shoots kind of spoiled me.
Let me know what you get... I picked the Rebel over the Nikon because
of the cost and the electronic "dust cleaner" feature... sorry
Shawn... I searched for the best price and then went to our local
Norman's Camera and got a very good deal.
Good luck and enjoy. Ciao!

I've been pondering about
I've been pondering about the XTi. I've been a Canonite for the past 5-6 years. I haven't gone by way of dSLR, but I'm still having a good time with the PowerShot Pro 1 (Canon's flagship for point & shoot until they discontinued them a few months ago). I hope Canon is considering a Pro 2 - great compact size, swivel screen, faster processor/upgraded hardware - now my blood's boiling.
