InterContinental Hotel San Francisco, The Official Hotel of Your Mac Life for MAcworld Expo 2010

2010 promises to be an interesting and perhaps pivotal year for Macworld Conference & Expo and Your Mac Life is planning on bringing you all the sights and sounds from San Francisco in February 2010.

First order of business before any of us even get there however is where to stay. For years our home away from home has been the Pickwick Hotel and it has served us well. But we wanted to change things up a bit so for Macworld 2010, YML has managed to get what we think, is a great rate at an *amazing* hotel that is so close to the Moscone you can practically roll outta bed onto the show floor.

Working with IDG World Expo, we have managed to secure a special rate, exclusive to Your Mac Life, at the spectacular InterContinental San Francisco of $189/night (single or double occupancy) – a $40 per night savings off the regular Macworld rate of $229/night! Triple occupancy is $219/night, while 4 guests per room is $249/night. All rooms are non-smoking and for those who book through this special rate, internet access is free.

Reservations are open now; please visit https://resweb.passkey.com/go/YML2010 to book your room today. While a credit card is required to guarantee your reservation, you will not be charged until you arrive to the hotel. Click here to check on or modify your reservation: https://resweb.passkey.com/Resweb.do?mode=welcome_ei_mod&eventID=802286

Deadline to register is December 7, 2009 although when the rooms are gone, they're gone so we encourage you to reserve asap. Once you have made your reservation online, you will receive a confirmation notice via email.

The InterContinental San Francisco, a graceful tower of translucent cool-blue, soars 32 stories above the vibrant South of Market (SoMa) neighborhood, and is quickly taking its place among the city’s most admired landmarks. Adjacent to the Moscone Convention Center (West Hall) and 1 block from the North Hall, it occupies a strategic location for both business and leisure and while its convenience for businesspersons is unrivaled, San Francisco’s newest luxury hotel is also within easy walking distance of premium shopping areas, a diverse collection of trendy and upscale restaurants and bars, and a number of major tourist attractions.

**Note: Please do not call the hotel directly prior to at least January 31, 2010 “to check on your reservation” as all reservations are being handled first through Macworld’s reservation system and the hotel front desk may not be aware of your reservation.

At this price, for a hotel of this caliber – rooms will go fast, so we hope you will join us this February at the InterContinental San Francisco!

Yes! Different Macworld Hotel, thank you!

Since I'm so happy to see ANY Hotel, other than that awful Pickwick, I'm going to make my hotel reservations later today (even though I am not sure I will have the money to go yet). I guess I can always cancel later, nice there is no penalty to that (however not so for the plane reservations, so I'll have to make up my mind by that time). I'm going to have faith that I'm going to have a decent new job (or 2) by then.

I really want to see all my YML friends again, I missed going so much last year. I'm going to try and make this Macworld my reward for surviving 2009. It's been a tough year. My unexpected job layoff (me and hundreds of others at my place of employment) June 30th after 29 years with the same University---thank you sucky economy. Then to top it off, my boyfriend of 9 years, Kenny, had a serious heart attack a few weeks ago and he's self employed so no work, no money. And other stupid annoying things not worth mentioning.

I hope to start a new job soon as an IT for an all Mac based Dr.'s office. So that should be fun. Unfortunately it's not full time and about half my old salary, but, hey, it's more than unemployment and without all the pain in the ass paperwork and reporting job searches to state workers. Will try to find freelance work in between, and squirrel away some savings for Macworld money.

Keepin' my fingers crossed!

Free Expo Passes?

Once again it is time to think about Macworld Expo and inquiring minds (or at least, my nosy mind) would like to know if YML will be offering free expo passes to Macworld 2010. I hope so since I know a few college students who would LOVE to go to their very first Macworld Expo. -- Matt

IDG hasn't announced the

IDG hasn't announced the free passes yet but registration is still free I think - you can go to the MacworldExpo.com site and register and get the free passes sent to you.
