NetNewsWire for Mac, other NewsGator Products go Free
From Ars Technica

NewsGator made a number of product update announcements this morning, including an update to Brent Simmons' NetNewsWire. "It's a way better version of NetNewsWire," he said. However, there are still a few new features, including HTML archiving, a new Combined View that does pagination and grouping, selecting multiple news items and a few new toolbar icons.
More importantly, however, comes the announcement that all of NewsGator's client products are being released for free—including all syncing services. The company says that the decision to go free with everything is so that it can push for greater ubiquity. "The more people using our clients, the easier it is to sell our server products," the company said on a conference call this morning. Brent and the NNW gang are apparently totally pumped about the announcement—"I'm totally excited about NetNewsWire going free!" he told us—and will continue to move forward with the software that so many of us have grown to love. "It's an ideal situation, a developer's dream come true: I get paid to work on software I love, and everybody can use that software. How sweet!"
