Macworld Expo Conference Pass Winners!
Congratulations to Neil Pomerleau of Auburn, ME for his video submission, "Why I Wanna go to Macworld Expo!"
And finally, our last Super Pass to TJ Ferreira of Grass Valley, CA for this email:
If for some reason I do not win the Platinum Pass again this year since Shawn and Lisa and the folks at IDG have basically driven me to be a drooling twitching Apple Macintosh freak-O-zoid, please feel free to at least send me to Macworld 2008 as a Super Pass winner. That is the least you can do since you have made my life a living hell since I had to leave Macworld 2007 last year. It is amazing how much money I have had to spend in the last year on bibs and "Depends" to keep a somewhat normal life.
By sending me as a Super Pass winner, I know you will feel somewhat better about yourselves and less guilty of taking this strong burly beast of a man I once was into a small puny drooling twitching blob of flesh that I have become since leaving Macworld last year.
Do the right thing! Send TJ Ferreira to Macworld 2008. I need Macworld 2008 REHAB now!!!

WooHoo!!!
WooHoo!!! I have a date now to sit on the sidewalks of SF at midnight waiting with other Mac Freak-O-zoids for the Steve Jobs keynote. 2008 will start out with a bang! Time to save for a new Mac in 08.
Thanks YML & IDG. I will have another year of bibs and depends! 8-)

Thank you so much!
This is Neil Pomerleau. I submitted the chipmunks video. You don't realize how much I appreciate winning this contest! I can't imagine ever being able to pull together the resources to go to Macworld without this opportunity. I'm still waiting for the email confirmation, because this is so amazing that I almost have a hard time believing that this is real. Please get back to me soon!
Thanks again,
Neil Pomerleau

Hey Neil... are you going to be in line for Keynote??
Neil.... congrats on the big win. I won that Platinum Pass last year. What a joy. I happened to win a Super Pass this so so I am equally excited. I plan on waiting in line in the wee hours of the morning for the keynote like last year. You need to make sure to do the same.
Maybe I will meet a fellow winner!

Super Duper SUPERPASS!
I am still pinching myself over the news.
wow.
WOW!
I can't thank YML and IDG enough.
You made today's (and tomorrow's) forecast as brilliant as a fogless SF October afternoon. Here's wishing all MWSF08-ers an Indian Summer in January.

p.s.
- There really was a non-zero winding rule. Somewhere in the bowels of a crusty old version of Photoshop, had to do with clipping paths and flatness settings. Seriously.
- And, yes, a Sperm Jacket. A long ago Macworld SF -- a cool-dudes-duo presenter thing, one sporting a black jacket with a (ahem) sperm pattern on it. Tres chic. I met B. Monroy at a much more recent Macworld and actually said, "Bert Monroy! Oh YEAH! The SPERM JACKET!!!" His eyes twinkled and he grinned and said, "Gawd! The SPERM JACKET! I remember that! That wasn't me."
Keynote Seating?
So, I've never been to Macworld before (I can't think of a better way to start than with a Platinum Pass!). Even with "priority seating" for the keynote, is there a benefit of waiting in line early in the morning? Other than meeting other devotees, of course.
What else can I look forward to during that week? I'm sure there is so much more to it than the keynote, but I'm not sure what to expect. I also have a long distance to travel (from Maine), but it will be worth it.

Macworld and what to expect
What to expect..... Let me see....
excitement
heart palpitations
anticipation driving you mad
confusion
delirium
glazed eyes
foot pains
heart burn
sleeplessness
hehehehe
Macworld is a blast. If this is your very first Macworld, you will be in for a real treat. Just picture thousands upon thousands of Mac nuts waiting to bust through the exhibit doors come Tuesday after the Steve Jobs keynote. Just the awe of so many like minded folks lining up to get inside to look at all the new toys you get to tell your significant other you need to buy, for business purposes (yeh! thats the ticket). Since you are attending the conferences, your fun starts Monday of course and if you arrive Sunday or before, you get to enjoy San Francisco and all the nutty people that call it home.
Monday you start conference classes and then get to enjoy the Keynote Tuesday AM. From there the whole week is just exhibit booth after exhibit booth, conference session after conference session, sheer quantities of people shuffling across the floors of Moscone drooling and breathing up everything Apple. By the time Friday comes, you will be beat. You will have eaten some great SF food, met all sorts of Mac fanatics, and will bring home many fond memories I am sure.
Just wear some comfy shoes!
As for the Keynote, I woke up at 2AM Tuesday morning, left the hotel at 2:45AM, was in line by 3AM, and I was about 50 people back or so. Cold as it was, we sat and waited in anticipation for the Steve Note.
Here is how Keynote pans out. Last year was my 1st keynote but I have been doing Macworld shows for a long time. Get there early with the rest of us nuts. Before any of us get seated, all the Apple folks and special folks get to go in. Then at the last moment they start to let people in. They (iPod shuffle) the Platinum and Superpass folks to one side of a big open building and the rest of the pass people to the other side. Then they let the Platinum & Super Pass folks in first and everyone else after that. By the time I got in to find a seat, and I was like the 6th person back on the Platinum/Superpass side, and even still was like 1/2 way back the large seating place Steve does his Keynote. So, don't expect to be right up front to see Steve's denims and mock turtle neck in all its glory. They have big screen TVs and all that so I was happy being 1/2 way up and took in Steve in all his glory. 8-)
I had a great time and I am sure you will. Just enjoy it as a special pass like the one you won does not come often in life.
Have a great time.
Maybe I will meet you.
TJ Ferreira
** By the way Neil, have you made a Macworld Expo NING page yet. The one Shawn mentioned on last nights show. Go there and make one up so we can learn more about you. Mine is here. If I figure out your email addy I will add you as a friend to mine. It is a new free service Macworld Expo has done and it is fun getting to know other folks.
