Lesa and Shawn Ski Mount Snow!

We went skiing again this past weekend - first to Butternut in CT then up to Mt Snow in VT. Lesa is getting better and better. She even tackled a "Black Diamond" run for the very first time!

For the record, we used the Olympus 790SW to shoot the movies and then edited them in iMovie HD.

Very impressive

Very impressive display to this non-skier.

I once went on a skiing trip with my church --- I must have been 14 or so.

Most of us were new to the sport, and we were excited that morning during our Skiing 101 course on the Kiddy Slope.

After concluding the course (and celebrating our Expert Status!) we began assembling in line for the ski lift. As we waited, we could watch other skiers zooming down the slopes.

One guy in particular caught my attention. To my untrained eye, he seemed a sharp-edged picture of competence. Ski poles tucked securely under his arms, slightly leaning forward, he was a living role model for aerodynamics as he effortlessly dodged other (more cautious) skiers during his run.

I thought to myself: "That's me, in a little while."

I continued to watch him approach the end of his run. In the blink of an admiring eye BOOM! he introduced himself to a split-rail fence at the bottom of the slope. Wood, skis, garments went everywhere. He lay still.

I looked at my buddy, who was now ashen-faced. We left the line and went back to the Kiddy Slope.

I haven't skied since.

LOL That's a *terrible*

Looks ICY

You have to take Lesa on a powder slope...like in Utah. It will make her "bounce" out of those turns. But it very cool that she is gaining confidence each time she goes. As the story above illustrates...lack of confidence is a killer!

Yeah, it was *really* icy

Yeah, it was *really* icy but those are the conditions you're stuck with here in the East. I'd love to take her to Whistler!
