iPhone Apps
I intend to purchase a 3G iPhone and keep my original. I will not activate the original (after the #swap) and will be using my old iPhone as an iPod touch (with speaker). My question involves software purchases via the app store. If I purchase a game (for example), when I sync my iPhone I assume the game is synced back to my computer via iTunes. When I sync my other iPhone will that game also sync to my other iPhone?

Apple hasn't made that clear
Apple hasn't made that clear but I'm betting the answer is no. Apple would want you to buy that game for the 2nd device. :(

iPhone Apps (All Good)
I now own both an original iPhone and a 3G version. Both are running 2.0 software, are are therefore capable of using the App store. I had installed about 20 apps (most free) on my original iPhone. Prior to purchasing and activating the 3G I followed Apple's advice and synced the unit (therefore backing it up). When I restored the 3G it put most (but not all) of my apps on the new iPhone. When I attempted to download the apps that did not get automatically transferred I was warned (via a dialog box) that I had previously downloaded the app (as I had - to my original phone) but could download it again. That was for some missing FREE apps. For the apps that required purchasing I received a similar dialog box that stated I had already purchased said app, but the download would be FREE this time. Apple, Inc. is obviously not trying to gouge you, but rather to keep its customers happy.
