Couple of Pics of Vancouver Apple Store
I hadn't planned to go down to the new Apple Store in Vancouver this weekend, and certainly not for the "opening MacMac bell" at 10:00am or the 9:00am media preview since I had stayed up into the wee hours of the morning setting up my new Tivo unit (how did I live without this thing!?!).
But when I found myself downtown around lunchtime, I figured what the heck, I'd at least go check it out and hoped that the throngs were gone by then. I've read other accounts that there were between 2,500 and 3,000 people in the lineup, and if true, I'm glad that Vancouver's usual "laissez faire" attitude didn't extend to this grand opening. I arrived around 12:15pm and the store was buzzing, full of Mac enthusiasts and the curious. MacBook Pro's and iPods were many of the purchases I saw being made during my few minutes in the store. The staff, with the usual Apple Store enthusiasm, seemed to be keeping up with the crowd, checking with each customer to see if they were finding everything alright.

Even though the "initial" rush was over, the store was still pretty full and while I was tempted to get a very cute Paul Frank iPod Touch case, I resisted...for now. ;-) I did however, "fondle" a MacBook Air on my way out - I'm not sure if it's good or bad, but my lust for the Air hasn't waned.

BTW, I took a look in the new H & M Store right next to the Apple Store - genius placement - the techie can slip into the Apple Store while his or her non-techie partner can get their fashion groove on at H & M. Fitting room lineups were *long* at H & M, so in my book, since I don't have to try on a MacBook Air, Apple wins, at least in the wait debate. ;-)
