"Beginner Digital Photography Day in San Francisco"
"Beginner Digital Photography Day in San Francisco"
Speakers: Lesa & Shawn King
Learn to shoot and edit like a pro in this full day of hands-on learning! No matter which camera you own, this session will teach you how to achieve better shots in-camera, plus arm you with many creative editing techniques to use afterwards.
You'll learn the basics of camera operation, which setting to use when, and glean the secret to visually pleasing composition. After lunchtime we'll put theory into action by heading out for our own photo shoot, and then come back into the classroom for a show-and-tell with critique. The afternoon will be dedicated to the importing and organization options in software like iPhoto, Adobe LightRoom and Bridge. Last but not least you'll learn the truth about resolution and how to resize images without quality loss, as well as how to create today's most popular photo effects using either Photoshop Elements 4.0 or Photoshop CS3.
Bring your cameras and laptops to get the most out of this action-packed day!

MWSF's Poor Scheduling
I've sent a firm email to the scheduling people at MWSF complaining about putting the Digital Photography Safari on Friday.
Given that both the instructors, many of the participants, and their own fearless leader (Paul Kent) are going to be at one of the premier social events of the expo (The Your Mac Life Rocks Expo Party) until late the previous night and that at least one of the instructors already had events scheduled during the day on Friday, this is an egregious error on their part.
Damn it, I was looking forward to enjoying this, getting the benefit of both instructors' experience, and basically having a relaxing learning experience prior to the MWSF Death March. This is not at all what I was expecting.
I strongly urged the MWSF staff to either reschedule to Monday or at least find another morning that would be more appropriate.
Strongly...
