Shawn & Lesa in San Antonio!

Shawn and Lesa have been exploring San Antonio this past week - on *Segways*!

Well, not exactly but, thanks to Alamo Segway Tours, they got to "see San Antonio at 6 miles per hour!"

There has been much tequila drunk, much Mexican food had and much shopping done. Check out the Flickr Feed for more pics!

Without Lesa, it's not that good anyways...

Nurse Sly seems to think it might be Strep Throat. Nurse Lesa thinks it might be a cold. Patient Shawn doesn't care - all he knows is he can't talk. :(

As Shawn Twittered this afternoon, "Does swelling/pain under jaw and *serious* difficulty swallowing actually mean anything...or can I just ignore it?"

Apparently, it means *something* but no one knows just what yet. What it means for the YML audience is, with an inability of the host to talk, tonight's show would be *very* uninteresting. Therefore, we've had to cancel it. :(

REVIEW: Bon Jovi in KC - Even Better the Second Time Around – April 22, 2008

I thought I was fortunate enough to be able to see Bon Jovi in concert back in my hometown of Vancouver, BC in December ‘07 (for the very first time I might add). Since having been a fan it seems like forever, I had always wanted to see them perform live but for whatever reason I never had the opportunity. Their genuine love for Vancouver, having recorded three of their most successful albums there, was apparent in both their performance and in the memories they shared of an obviously important time in their lives. I even declared that this concert was probably as much fun as my all time favourite concert - Bruce Springsteen’s Born in the USA tour, which stopped in Vancouver in October 1984.

Hope you enjoy!

Washington Apple Pi Welcomes Lesa Snider King on April 26!

Graphics wizard Lesa Snider King returns to the Pi to give us her take on the newest version of Adobe’s Photoshop Elements. Lesa is a world-class graphic artist, but with a difference: she is also very good at teaching. Photoshop Elements 6 is much less expensive than the full Photoshop, but under Lesa’s tutelage you may find it much more approachable and useful. Lesa’s visit is sponsored by iStockphoto.com.

Our meeting will open with a Question & Answer session, and at some point we will have a break for refreshments. We will also meet the candidates for this year’s Board of Director’s election. This promises to be a great meeting. You don’t want to miss it!

Casting Call!

From Smile On My Mac:

We are (finally) putting together a SmileOnMyMac audio spot for YML. We are using people's responses to the "What Makes You Smile On Your Mac?" contest. I am getting some of the original contestants to record their answers, but I will still need other voices to record.

It will only take a minute and should be fun. If you are interested, send me an email off list, and I'll send you the details.

Today's Photoshop World Photos!

Wednesday was the first day the Tech Expo Show Floor was open. Then in the evening, we went to Taverna Opa with the folks from Peachpit.com and then to B.B. King's Blues Club to hear Scott Kelby's band, fronted by the lovely and talented Kalebra Kelby!

This week on Your Mac Life, sponsored by RadTech, SmileOnMyMac and Circus Ponies - "YML @ Photoshop World in Orlando!"

Unfortunately, there won't be a live version of tonight's show. It was taped early Wednesday and Tuesday.

This week's Your Mac Life is all about Photoshop and the people who use it!

YML is down in Orlando, FL, site of this week's Photoshop World, the bi-annual gathering of thousands of creative professionals, digital artists, academics, and more all getting their brains crammed full of Photoshop-py goodness!

How much fun is Photoshop World?

Well, Lesa seems to have found a way to not only learn about Top Secret Stuff from various companies (as evidenced by her teasing us on Twitter) but to also appear in a "Star Trek - The Photoshop Generation"!

Actually, Lesa attended at "Train the Trainers" seminar on Monday and part of it was learning some really cool techniques and effects using various next gen applications.

Still not sure how the Star Trek theme came about...I'm sure she'll explain it to me at some point...

Photoshop World has started off just Ducky!

Shawn and Lesa are in Orlando, FL all this week for Photoshop World - Lesa is teaching classes and Shawn is just a hang-on this week.

We are staying at the Peabody Orlando and got a chance this morning to watch the world famous "Duck March". We even got a chance to interview the Duck Master and we'll have that interview on Wednesday evening's show.

After the Move, No Your Mac Life Tonight! :(

Moving is one of the top five most stressful things we do and, even when it's a "simple" move things go wrong.

While unlike the last move where things were outright stolen, this time, we've just lost some gear crucial to the broadcasting of the show. We know it's here, we just don't know what box it's in. :(

So we've had to cancel tonight's show while we put the studio back together and find all the missing bits. Next week, we'll be in Orlando for PhotoshopWorld and we'll have all the best news an interviews from there!

The Graphic Reporter heads to Dallas

Week after next I'm headed to the DFW area to do some teaching at UTA, Fort Worth Camera (for Cowtown Mac User Group), and the Interactive Media Users Group (at the Dallas Art Institute). I'll be in town from Feb. 19-22 (bugging out early on the 23rd to keep the husband happy). I grew up in Fort Worth, TX so getting asked to teach in the area is a real treat.

If you are in the DFW and would like to meet up for a coffee or cocktail, let me know! Also, if you know of a company that has a decent size creative department who would like an iStockphoto sponsored Lunch & Learn (catered lunch, plus iStockphoto advanced search tips, followed by some select Photoshop productivity tricks), please send me an email. I've had a ball doing these presos across the globe and they are immensely fun. I come stocked with tons of iStockphoto goodies (t-shirts, lens cloths, free credits for everyone), the creative/web teams get fed plus they learn tons about finding the right image faster in iStock's vast database, the art directors and buyers learn how to save tons of money with iStockphoto's new corporate account feature, plus everyone learns how to create some very cool (and practical!) techniques in Photoshop.

My next trip will be to Austin, TX in early March. I'm doing an Elements workshop for CapMac on Saturday, March 8. Whee! I must have been a really, really good girl lately :)

The Missing Feature Videos

During Macworld Expo recently, O'Reilly caught up with a few of us who work on the Missing Manuals and let us rant and rave about "missing features" in various pieces of software, and yours truly got featured in one of them.

YML's Expo Wrap Up from the Couch Ain't happening :(
